We are building a new church in Maple

Our Parish Bulletin Archive and Current Parish Bulletin are a great resource for Parish Events and News.

Welcome to our parish website. I am settling into the Rectory, and after several days of moving and shuffling things around, the rectory is finally begining to look like a home and office. Starting from September 2nd there will be Daily Mass celebrated at the Rectory (2 Barletta drive – corner house at the intersection of Grand Trunk avenue & Barletta drive) at 9am from Monday to Saturday. And from September 8th, Sunday Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia Catholic Elementary School (300 Peter Rupert Avenue) at 10am and Noon respectively. Please spread this exciting news to your families, friends and neighbours and be part of this incredible journey with me. And if you would like to register with our parish please click here.

Our Parish is named after Brother Andre from Montreal who is the first Canadian male born Saint. During his life, his generous, kind and caring personality made an indelible mark on the lives of many people. God used this humble man in an incredible way: for over 40 years, Brother Andre served as God’s miracle worker! And as history attests, thousands benefitted from his healing touch. When Brother Andre initially joined the Congregation of the Holy Cross as a religious brother, he began his incredible journey by serving as barber, and laundryman, and eventually porter for the foyer of Notre Dame College.  How little did those visiting the College back then know that Brother Andre would soon open the door for many people – Christian and non-Christian alike – to fully experience God’s everyday miracles!

In time, St. Andre became a great saint simply because he refused to believe that God could not make great things happen in a common ordinary individual like him. Brother Andre lived his vocation faithfully every day of his life. Each year, St. Joseph’s Oratory receives over 2 million visitors from all ages and walks of life. It is my hope that as our parish community grows, we too will reflect Brother Andre’s passion and love for God and for each other. As we come together for the celebration of Sunday Mass, there will be many opportunities to serve God, our community and one another, and to get to know each other in a familial way. If there is anything, parochially, that you would like to be involved in, please feel free to share your ideas with me. I would also like to ask you to take some time to reflect on your own giftedness and how, together, we can serve each other and our family at St. Andre’s. If you would like to get involved in the Parish, please click on the volunteer form located here.

I would like to thank you for taking time to visit our parish website; please feel free to subscribe for any future notice or update. If you have any questions or would like to share comments, please do not hesitate to email me or to call the parish. May you always find an open door and an open heart in the spirit of St. Andre.

I look forward to meeting all of you!
May God bless you and your family as abundantly as only He can.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Peter Jae Choi
Pastor of St. Andre Bessette Parish

  1. Very exciting news for the Maple, Vaughan. Definitely a compliment to the great work St. Davids parish has done for the community over countless years. Looking forward to a new church facility in our neighborhood.

  3. Thank you for your questions. Here are the answers:
    1. The Sunday Masses will be celebrated only at St. Cecilia Catholic School. However, there will be Masses celebrated with the St. Raphael Catholic School Community at the school.
    2. Yes, I will have Missals available shortly before the Advent Season (the beginning of the new Liturgical year).
    3. Yes, I will be on TV again. Stay tuned…in November 2013.
    4. I was at St. Rose of Lima Parish (2006-2009), Merciful Redeemer Parish (2009-2011), St. Francis de Sales Parish (2011-2013).

  4. 1.do u say mass @ st David’s?will your mass will eventually hv Italian Sunday mass too?
2.where will be the church really build?the empty piece of land opposite the rectory?no?
Look forward to seeing you on Sunday tv mass…pls reply

  5. 1. I celebrate daily mass at the Rectory, and Sunday Masses at St. Cecilia School. So I do not celebrate Mass at St. David’s Parish
The direct to celebrate mass in another language comes from the Archdiocese (bishop’s office).
Therefore, unless the local Ordinary assigns me to celebrate mass in Italian, I cannot start celebrating Mass in Italian in my own initiative.
    2. The Church will be built on the south east corner of Major MacKenzie drive & Thomas Cook Avenue (between Yummy Market and Tim Hortons).
The empty lot opposite the rectory belongs to the Catholic School board, and it is a proposed sight of a new Catholic elementary school.

  9. Hello, was wondering, is the construction date of the new church available ?
    Thank you

  10. Hi Alex!
We are hoping to be able to begin construction as soon as 2017!!!
This will be possible due to the great success of the Family of Faith Campaign. We have been quite blessed with a generous anonymous donor who is matching dollar per dollar up to 1 Million dollars for our Parish!
We are currently at a little over a Million dollars. We are encouraging our almost 800 families to participate in order to raise another $500,000 to obtain the additional $500,000 from the anonymous donor.

We ask that you keep us in your prayers.
    God Bless †
