First Holy Communion

June 1, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Thank you for your patience during the past few months as we have navigated together as a spiritual family. I am happy to inform you that we are now able to offer you dates for your child’s First Holy Communion.

General Information:

  • Each family is allowed to bring a total of ten (including the child receiving their Sacrament).
  • Everyone must comply with health regulations that are mandated at the time of the Sacrament including the wearing of masks, hand sanitizing, etc.
  • In an attempt to gauge the total number of attendees, we ask that you confirm the number of attendees at the time of your date selection.
  • Dates are on a first come-first scheduled basis and not being held by school. Each parent must call or email to schedule their child’s Mass – no group scheduling.
  • No live-streaming will be available – no professional photography permitted. No group photography.
  • Please arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to your scheduled Mass.

2021 First Communion candidates have already received their First Confession in early March. If your child feels the need for another Confession, please contact the parish office and we will happily schedule one.

2020 First Communion candidates that had deferred but are now ready to proceed with their First Holy Communion are required to schedule a Confession. Kindly schedule the Confession at the time of scheduling the First Holy Communion.

Mass Dates:

First Holy Communions will take place at St. Joseph the Worker Parish (191 Wade Gate).

 Opting to Defer:

If you have health concerns or feel uncomfortable celebrating the Sacrament at this time and would like to defer to a later date, please contact the Parish Office by email indicating: your child’s first and last name – the school they attend and that you wish to have their First Holy Communion deferred to a later date.

If you have already asked for a deferral, and wish to defer to a later date – I ask for your co-operation in emailing the parish office with that direction. Once again include: your child’s first and last name, the school they attend, that you wish to have their Sacrament deferred and that they were to have received it originally in 2020.

Next Step:

Contact the parish office by email: or call at 289-553-1610 to schedule your child’s First Holy Communion.

The parish office hours are Tuesday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm – closed to the public but operating remotely. We will do our best to accommodate your preferred date. We ask for your continued understanding and support.

God bless,

Fr. Peter
